The Jefferson Awards and All Stars Partner to Multiply Service

The Jefferson Awards and All Stars Helping Kids have created a new partnership to honor and recognize outstanding athletes for excellence in service and philanthropy.
Athletes are uniquely positioned to shape the attitudes and values of all Americans - especially young Americans. Athletes can be valuable role models and pace setters to inspire others. As we applaud the service of the athletes, we will work together to create a national "Call to Action for Volunteering and Service."

All Stars Helping Kids was founded by NFL Hall of Famer Ronnie Lott in 1989 to promote a safe, healthy and rigorous learning environment for disadvantaged kids in low-income communities. Since inception, All Stars has raised more than $20 million to fulfill this mission.
Mission & Programs

The Challenge:

The Carnegie Endowment and the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard, among many others, are concerned that America's tradition of civic engagement is eroding. They see a startling decline in the number of citizens joining hands to address community needs.

From the beginning, the Jefferson Awards has been based on a simple idea. One of the most powerful ideas in the world. One person can make a difference. That is the heart of democracy at work.

A Call to Action for Volunteers

In response, the Jefferson Awards is creating a "Call to Action" for volunteers.
